Bio

Dr. Warren Leggett Jr. has built an extensive career in psychology, addiction counseling, and criminal justice education, grounded in a solid educational foundation. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina A&T State University in 1980, Dr. Leggett furthered his expertise with a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia in 2003. Culminating his educational journey, he earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Capella University in 2010, with a dissertation focusing on the impact of reentry and sanction centers on recidivism.

Throughout his career, Dr. Leggett has maintained several critical certifications. Since 2005, he has been a Master Addiction Counselor and has held the title of Advanced Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor III since 1991. Moreover, he’s been a Certified Clinical Supervisor since 1994 and an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist since 1997.

As an educator, Dr. Leggett has served as an adjunct professor at various institutions, including Bowie State University since 2013, specializing in Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Criminal Justice. He has also imparted his knowledge at the College of Southern Maryland, Strayer University, International University, and the University of the District of Columbia, focusing on psychology and counseling. Beyond teaching, he is a trainer for the Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist program and involved in the Purple Boot Mentoring Program.

In management and leadership, Dr. Leggett has a substantial background. From 1999 to 2015, he was a Supervisory Probation/Parole Officer at the Court Services & Offender Supervision Agency in Washington, DC, overseeing a team and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. He also directed the Probation & Parole Resource Center and managed the Probation Drug Testing Unit, among other responsibilities.

Dr. Leggett has been an active member of professional societies, holding positions such as Vice President of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association and President of the DC Professional Consortium. His excellence has been recognized through several awards, including being named Omega Man of the Year by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. in 2012.

We are the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, an organization that trains people in the NADA protocol to treat trauma, substance misuse, abuse, and mental health conditions.
