The 30 “classroom hours” are covered in-person over 3 days from 9am to 5pm and includes reading and homework assignments.

Included in course:
Course instruction, ADS manual, needles and all other treatment materials needed for the 30 hours theory. Supervised training after the didactic period is completed.1 box of needles for 40 practice hours (40 treatments).

Course Title: NADA Acudetox 3-Day Training

Hours: 21 Hrs didactic; 40 treatment hours; 9 hours reading and course home study

Course Goals and Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will:
1. Recognize the points, point names, and needling techniques used in Acudetox.
2. Learn the history of the NADA organization.
3. Discuss the use of the protocol within the integrative pain settings.
4. Evaluate patient presentation for red flags or contraindications to NADA.
5. Understand addiction, PTSD, and Trauma and how Acudetox supports these conditions.

Course Description:
At the end of this course, you will earn a certificate of training nationally recognized in the United States and Canada. NADA Acudetox certification connects you to an international community of Acudetox providers. The 5-Point protocol developed by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) seeks to aid patients with substance use detoxification, reduction of cravings, PTSD, trauma, and increased well-being through the insertion of acupuncture needles in five points in the ear. This practice is called the NADA Five-Point Protocol and is a form of auricular acupuncture. Acudetox has been used to treat addiction with increasing demand. It has been included in the Substance Misuse and Mental Health Services treatment improvement series for treating addiction, and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs has integrated Acudetox, in addition to traditional acupuncture, in many of their hospitals. Certification in this modality opens doors to collaborative work in integrative and mental health facilities.

COURSE SCHEDULE


7/21/2023 9:00am – 10:00am	Introductions, Acudetox experience and feedback	Learners will introduce themselves. Seated in a circle, each participant will receive NADA Acudetox treatment and sit in silence for 20 minutes. At the end of the session, learners will share about their experience.
10am-12pm	Dope is Death Film Discussion	Watch the film and complete the writing assignment. Group discussion.
12:00-1:00pm	Lunch	Welcome to bring lunch in and eat as a group.
1:00pm – 2:00PM	Overview of Training and Class logistics	Go over layout of manual, issue and explain supplies (needles, sharps, ear models, disposal of materials, etiquette), snacks, restroom breaks, and neighborhood food options for meals.
2:00pm – 3:00pm	Ear overview, Survey of ears, Learning the NADA 5-Point	Ear mapping, art project, discoveries, and discussions.
3:00pm – 4:00pm	Practicing the NADA Protocol	Location of points, needle insertion technique, safety, posture
4:00pm – 4:30pm	Public health and regulatory concerns – clean needle technique	Presentation, Discussion
4:30pm – 5:00pm	Homework, Q&A, wrap up	Go over flyers and recruitment for volunteer treatments, practicing on fruit, dress and expectations for next day
