“The NADA Spirit is a spirit of service.” – Ken Carter, NADA President

In June 2020 the NADA community gathered virtually for a special NADA Membership Café with recently elected NADA President, Ken Carter. Ken shared his reflections on ancestral healing, NADA’s legacy, and his vision for NADA. Lincoln Detox is still where we look for wisdom in these times as a profound model for us and one that laid the groundwork for the NADA protocol to be shared across the globe: by the people, for the people.

“Many of the answers to the needs and questions we have today can be found from what has already been done in our legacy. The spirit of the early days of NADA is part of a legacy that I want to see carried forward and restored where it has been eroded. The legacy is one of caring for the community you serve. And service that is as barrier free as much as possible.” – Ken Carter, NADA President

About our Guest

Ken Carter, former and now current president of NADA, is a psychiatrist and medical acupuncturist at a Veteran’ Administration hospital in Florida. He first came to Lincoln Recovery to study with Mike Smith in the early ‘80s, and became an AcuDetox specialist in 1982 – certificate #17. Kenny now refers to this time as “The Golden Age of the broadly inclusive, community-based and peer-support recovery model at Lincoln.â€
