This is an in-person training. Instructional methods include but are not limited to self-study, demonstration, lecture, group discussion, and practicum. Students are required to attend all sessions and complete all assignments. Any absences must have prior clearance from instructor. Students with disabilities should notify trainer prior to training to discuss appropriate accommodations. Students MUST attend all sessions and complete all assignments, and demonstrate competency to be eligible to receive a certificate as a NADA Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS).
Training Syllabus/Outline
Day 1: Foundations of NADA
Introductions, students experience a NADA Group from trainers
History of Acupuncture/NADA, Spirit of NADA
Clean Needle Technique, universal precautions, handling & Disposal
Introduction to NADA protocol including ear anatomy, point location and points, Needling technique & Practice on silicon ears
Needling technique and practice on silicon ears
Chinese Medicine, 5 elements, the Meridians & Organs, & Empty Fire
Boundaries, holding space, scope of practice, code of ethics
Day 2: Practice of NADA
Review the points & needling practice of first two points (students)
Trauma-informed care, ADS Self-care: Burn out, compassion fatigue & secondary trauma
Needling practice of next 3 points
Uses of NADA within the context of behavioral and community health, Communication skills, informed consent and consent forms, treatment records, HIPAA
Day 3: Integration of NADA
Reflection, Discussion & Reviewing the points
Needling practice on each other, all 5 points
Sleep mix tea & herbal remedies
Colorado Legal Statute, integrating NADA into treatment programs, sustainability
Communal treatment- benefits, setting up, maintenance, client management issues and strategies, special populations and accessibility
Feedback & Data Collection, Research
Pathway to becoming an ADS- completing requirements, certification, insurance, supplies & resources, questions.
Self study – Self-Study materials will be provided at the start of the training. These must be completed within 90 days of the training and can include but is not limited to reviewing the Training Manual, and completing Videos and Readings as assigned by the trainers.
Cancellation policy:
There are no refunds for cancellation, a withdrawal from the training or failure to complete coursework. In the event of a documented medical emergency that prevents a student from attending a training, a transfer may be considered on a case by case basis.
We are the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, an organization that trains people in the NADA protocol to treat trauma, substance misuse, abuse, and mental health conditions.
